FEATURED LEADERS 
Richard Payne, MD is Professor of Medicine and Divinity and Director of the Institute on Care at the End of Life, Duke Divinity School. His training, A Progressive Palliative Care Educational Curriculum for the Care of African Americans at Life’s End (APPEAL) was recently held in Memphis. He has given expert testimony to the Congressional Black Caucus National Brain Trust and the President's Cancer Panel in the area of healthcare access disparities in cancer care, palliative medicine and end-of-life care.

Dr. Thomas G. Long is Bandy Professor of Preaching at Candler School of Theology, Emory University, and is one of the most popular preachers in the United States today. He is the author numerous books on preaching as well as "Accompany Them with Singing: The Christian Funeral" in which he provides a theological and cultural critique of today’s Christian funeral.
