The Church Health Center is committed to encouraging healthy living – as individuals and as communities. Individuals can only become healthy in the midst of community. We believe life will be experienced more fully when “living” involves reaching our highest level of wellness. To do this, we seek guidance and strength from our faith to find healthier pathways in our lives. From infants to elderly, from inner city to suburban, our ministries promote healthy bodies and spirits for all.
Medical, wellness and outreach are over-arching or umbrella areas of our ministry. Under each, there are several progams or ministries where we reach into our community and beyond.
The Church Health Center is committed to providing quality, affordable healthcare for the low-wage, working uninsured.
Medical Clinic: We are committed to patient-centered care at our medical center as well as through our many partnerships with healthcare providers, diagnostic centers and hospitals who volunteer their services. Our dedicated staff cares for our patients with compassion, weaving faith and health into action, helping our patients reach their highest level of wellness. Services include acute care walk-in clinic. primary and specialty care, dentistry, eye care and counseling. Patients pay a sliding-scale visit fee that is based on family size and income.
MEMPHIS Plan: The Church Health Center offers this unique employer-sponsored healthcare plan for employees of small businesses. Services are provided mostly off-site by volunteer providers. Plan covers primary and specialty care, lab/diagnostic testing and hospital services, and it operates similarly to an insurance program. The MEMPHIS Plan is paid for by a monthly fee shared by the employer and employee.
We believe individuals must be healthy in both body and spirit to achieve their highest level wellness, and that this is best accomplished in the midst of community.
The Church Health Center is committed to integrating whole-person wellness initiatives in all it does. The Church Health Center’s wellness facility offers membership-based exercise, nutrition and health education programs for the whole family in a welcoming and safe environment. Memberships are available to the entire community. Many programs developed for our wellness programming are translated into congregational settings. While providing quality clinical services to all its patients, the Church Health Center encourages its patients to actively participate in setting their own goals for a healthier life.
The Church Health Center is committed to connecting people of faith and their congregations with quality health resources, meaningful volunteer opportunities and trusted educational experiences.
Health Resources: From the training of Congregational Health Promoters to the development of faith-based walking programs to the creation of curricula that explore the meaning of health and healing ministry, the Church Health Center develops quality resources for use by people of faith.
Through its website, Church Health Reader, the Church Health Center connects people across the globe interested in healing ministry by providing them with both theological frameworks and practical applications.
Volunteer Opportunities: At the core of its mission, all Church Health Center employees are committed to providing meaningful volunteer opportunities for lay and professional volunteers who wish to serve others through our ministry.
Educational Experiences: Through internships, conferences and public forums, the Church Health Center provides educational opportunities for students and professionals to connect faith with health and explore how their chosen career might be influenced by the experience.
Perea Preschool: Unhealthy children often become unhealthy adults. To explore innovative ways to break this cycle, the Center has a preschool that is not only focused on academic development of young minds but is also committed to creating a learning environment that emphasizes health of body and spirit.
