Strong parental
support helps to make Perea a success. Parents are involved daily at Perea
whether it be reading in the classroom, attending a special event, or assisting
the teachers with a project. Monthly breakfast and dinner meetings are
specifically designed to provide valuable information and resources to the
parents. Home visits and parent-teacher conferences help to maintain open
communication and develop a sense of teamwork between home and school.
The Parent Advisory
Board is a group of parent volunteers who are willing to represent their
child’s classroom in planning activities that bring Perea families
together. These activities have included
a Christmas Store for the children as well as Teacher Appreciation Week
events. This group us an opportunity for
parents to have a greater voice in their child’s education.
Perea parents also
receive support from our Parent Liaison, whose role is to connect parents with
the school. The Parent Liaison also
provides necessary community resources in order to meet the needs of our Perea
families. These resources may include
financial assistance, housing searchers, job assistance, counseling services,
spiritual guidance, budget counseling, transportation needs, and any other
services that may benefit and strengthen a family.
The teachers and the Parent Liaison work together to guide each family
towards healthier homes and lifestyles.
We support our families so they can support each other, and it is our
firm belief that we can change our communities by changing one child at a time.
