Healthy Bodies

Healthy Bodies is our core program for those who want to lose weight or simply learn to take better care of their bodies. Participants are offered health-education classes, nutrition counseling, exercise plans, cooking classes and group meetings for long-term support and fellowship. They also learn how to develop and implement realistic lifestyle changes. Healthy Bodies combines exercise, education and nutrition resourcesinto a specialized program to help members achieve whole-person health.

Exercise and Movement

Upon joining, each member receives an exercise assessment and an appropriate exercise plan. Exercise programming is varied, offering options for therapeutic, light, moderate andvigorous intensity levels.

We offer group exercise classes as well as individual exercise on cardiovascular and strengthening machines. Recreational courts provide basketball, volleyball and racquetball, as well as group games for children. Pilates and dance classes are offered in our Creative Movement Studio in partnership with Ballet Memphis for an additional fee. A 96-degree therapeutic pool is available to members for pain management and flexibility and balanceclasses.

Wellness Education

Classes cover topics such as diabetes management, arthritis, stress management and smoking cessation. Our Health Information Resource Room contains a variety of information as well as high-speed internet stations to access current health information and aprivate room for breast self-exams.

Nutrition

Using a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen with six cooking stations, participants interactively learn how to prepare healthy meals and enjoy healthier eating. Recipe modifications and cooking demonstrations are provided. While most of the cooking classes are for members only, we do offer community cooking classes that are for non-members as well.
